How AskBioMap is made

How the content on AskBioMap is chosen, written, graded and checked, and how to tell us when something needs correcting.

Sources

This edition draws on 237 sources from 36 publishers, led by Australian government and professional health services. Every source was opened and read before it was cited, between 12 October 2026 and 20 October 2026. Where a publisher shows a review date, AskBioMap shows it too.

The References page lists every source with a direct link, the date the publisher last reviewed it, the date we read it, and the pages and connections that use it.

How topics are written

Each topic is written in plain English for adults. AI tools helped with research and drafting. Every statement was then checked against the sources listed on its page, and claims that the sources did not support were removed or reworded. Numbers such as reference ranges, intakes and helpline hours are quoted from the named source rather than written from memory.

Every topic, connection, lab test, medicine, herb, food entry and guided tour step lists the sources it was written from. Each connection on the map names its own source, so you can see exactly why two topics are linked. The site's build check refuses any of these without a source, or with a source that has not been read.

AskBioMap gives general education, not personal advice, so its pages describe what is generally true and point to a health professional for what applies to you.

Evidence grades

Every topic and every connection carries one of four grades.

Established

Textbook physiology, or consistent findings reflected in national guidance.

321 connections
Supported

Good evidence from several human studies, with details still being refined.

89 connections
Emerging

Early, mixed or mostly laboratory and animal evidence. Not settled.

19 connections
Contested

A popular claim that current evidence or official sources do not support.

4 connections

Kinds of connection

Each connection reads in both directions. For example, if insulin resistance can lead to type 2 diabetes, then type 2 diabetes can result from insulin resistance.

What a connection means

A connection describes how parts of the body relate in general. It does not show that one thing is causing another in you, and the strength of a link varies from person to person. Connections graded emerging or contested are shown with dashed or dotted lines so they are never mistaken for settled science.

Tools and Ask BioMap

Each tool shows its working and names its method and source, so you can check the numbers. Ask BioMap answers with fixed rules that read the map; it does not use generative AI, and your questions stay in your browser. The automated features page explains both in more detail.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, an out-of-date fact or a broken link, please tell us through the HuBu-Intel contact page, with the page address if you can. We review every report and correct the site as soon as possible.
