About this tool
healthdirect gives a general guide of about 10 cups (2.6 litres) of fluids a day for males and about 8 cups (2.1 litres) for females, with another cup if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It also says there is no strict amount you must drink, because needs vary with weather, activity, food and health.
